We really thought Brazil would do great this World Cup. Dunga’s Selecao seemed to be doing alright but not good enough to beat the Dutch. The Hexa dream will carry on to the next World Cup in 2014 which will happen in Rio and hopefully we will be able to be there to see Brazil winning the world cup for the 6th time.
Enough of Brazil and more of my precious one. Tristan had his second cold. But this one did knock him out. Not only him but the three of us. Tate got the virus from work and brought home; after that, we were doomed! Over 10 days to be able to feel a bit better, not 100%. During this time our routine was destroyed. Tristan with a blocked nose and heavy breathing couldn’t sleep properly. He cried a lot in the middle of the night, I have never heard such loud screaming before. For a few days, I was on my own, as Tate had to go to Melbourne on a business trip. It was tough! I took him to the doctor but there wasn’t much that could be done. He is too young to take any medication. The only thing I could do was to suck the mucus from his nose and hope he’d overcome this sickness by himself. Tristan didn’t put on any weight during that time as he was feeding very poorly. Luckily he has lots of spare fat in him =)
I thought that after we’d get rid of the cold, we’d go back to our normal pattern. Wrong me!!! Now it’s all messed up, feeding and sleeping. First he is eating like crazy, I never thought my breasts would ever be empty but now, he manages to empty both of them and he eats almost every 2 hours. And sleeping, oh wow!!! Good-bye sleep through nights. I haven’t had one in a long time. He’s been waking up for a feed 2 or 3 times a night. It’s driving me insane! How can I go back to the good routine?
Aside from my sleep deprivation, everything else is great. Everyday we try a bit more of tummy-time and he’s getting much better at it. Far away from rolling but we keep practising. One day he’ll get the hang of it. I love his giggles and laughs at the crazy songs I sing to him. His favorite time of the day is his shower with daddy. He gets so excited, it’s really cute!!!
He is getting big really fast. I thought I had enough clothes for a whole year, as we were given lots before he was born. I had a good number of clothes of different sizes, especially from newborn to 6 months. However, he’s grown out of most of it. I have filled up almost 2 boxes with clothes that don’t fit him anymore. Now, he is growing out of size 00 (6-9 month old). I’m so glad there is ebay and lots of bargains on used clothes there. That’s the only way to do it. There is no point in buying new clothes for him when he grows out of them so quickly.
Well, I’m still loving motherhood and all the special moments I have with my little one. He is definitely a gift sent from heaven to us.
OI!
Cada dia que se passa ele tá mais lindo!! Também está muito grande!!!!
Tks 4 shared with us, your precious moments!!!
Lov u!!

Oi Hanna. Beijos

Hi Hanna
You and I met once at a wedding a couple of years ago and I am friends with Tate from when I lived in Sydney for 4.5 years. I’m back in Brisbane now and Tate sent your blog addresses in his last bulk email so I hope you don’t mind me commenting now and then. I just love seeing what you as a family are getting up to and your beautiful son!

Hi Hanna,
Tate sent me a link of your pics of Tristan. Firstly congratulations and secondly wow- what a cutie!
As you know, my wife and I had a little girl -Zoe- who is now 14 months old so I can relate to your comments about routine etc. All I can say is nothing ever stays the same.
Zoe didnt breast feed and wanted her bottle 5-7 times throughout the night. At 7 months it was killing us and we were told to call the free Tresillian number and boy was that a god send. Changed our routine and gave us back our sleep. Zoe went from waking all night to going to bed at 7pm, having one top up at 10.30pm and then sleeping through. From about 11 months on she doesnt need the top up. So if you ever want some help or advice, call Tresillian!
All the best and no doubt I will speak with you and Tate again soon.
Cheers
Darren

Hi Darren,
14 months? wow that went fast! Thanks for the tip. I know two girls at my mother’s group that are going to this Tresillian and they say it’s fantastic. I find myself fortunate. Even though he wakes up for a feed or two in the middle of the night, they are very quick and he is soon back to bed sound asleep…. but as we know, babies are a surprise box. They change non stop. It’s hard work but all worth it.
We’ll keep in touch!
Hanna
